Accuracy of angle measurements in machine engineering

All metal cutting tools and measuring machines are equipped with linear and angle measuring systems, rotary encoders or circular scales as reference measures for machine control. Accuracy parameters of these systems are assessed only at some strictly predetermined intervals, so it is difficult to apprehend the real accuracy of linear or angular positioning of parts of the machine during its operation, or to perform the measuring system calibration. Some methods and means of angular accuracy determination here are presented and some approach to the angle accuracy assessment is proposed. The traceability and calibration of the angle accuracy parameters of the multicoordinate machines, robots and measuring machines are discussed in this paper and the circular scale as a reference measure is proposed.
