Events linking with rules - business system, information system and software system
Abstract
Business rules make an important and integral part of each application domain by expressing constraints on concepts, their interpretation, and/or relationships of a domain. At the Information system level they should be expressed as ECA (event-condition-action) rules to be implemented in active DBMS by executable rules (like SQL triggers). But the majority of business rules has not explicitly or has not absolutely defined the event part. Therefore, it isn't obvious, when a business rule has been triggered. The objective of this paper is to investigate how events and rules, making an important part of domain, are linking together in business system, information system and software system levels. Since events and rules, making a specific part of all domain knowledge, ontology, representing the domain knowledge, is used to analyse events linking with rules.
