Развитие Каунасского региона в контексте глобализации

Abstract

The article presents the analysis of Kaunas region development giving attention to good transport infrastructure and some selected conditions of competitiveness stimulation. In the part concentrating on the theoretical concepts of regional development the economic theories and questionnaires have been taken into consideration. Demographical changes have been stressed in the paper as well. The determinants and indicators are presented for the period of 1998-2003. The results of the research show insuficient investment funds, relatively large unemployment. Succesfull integration would be achieved when the new technologies would be introduced. Main priorities for Kaunas region development must be oriented to new economy, modern village, quality of life, people and environment.
