The need to protect painted facades surfaces from early deterioration has been an issue debated for many years. The aim of this research is to investigate the long-term performance of painted rendering on external walls. The attention is concentrated on changes of hygric properties of facing materials during natural weathering. The natural weathering has been carried out in order to analyze the impact of acidic precipitation to the aging process of painted building facade rendering. To trace the effect of natural ageing, 2h capillary water absorption rate coefficient is to be the best indicator for paint coatings concerning their physical protective features.
