Abstract
Maxwell-Zener solid is generally applicable for the description of the mechanical behavior of the core material of sandwich beams. Voigt material model gives good results for the stiffness parameters but results in a significant error for the damping properties. 2. Both least square and extended Kalman filtering techniques work well for the identification of the stiffness parameters of the viscoelastic beam. For the estimation of damping, Kalman filtering is more accurate if the identification is carried out over the sufficient interval of time. Furthermore, it calculates the statistic of the parameter estimates.
