Business rule management in enterprise resource planning systems

Nowadays Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are not only supplying information for all departments within an enterprise to support decisions, but also arc used together with other software systems to automate business processes. Business processes arc running according to the business rules. However business processes are changing rapidly and especially because of changes in business logics and sequentially changes in rules system. To implement such changes into the business system, all software systems of information system (IS), which are supporting business, should be readjusted to be in alignment with business. Separation and centralisation of business logics represented by business rules from the code of software system of IS is one of the ways to solve the problem. The paper analyses problems and available solutions of integration tasks to allow ERP system the collaboration with other software systems of IS. The main contribution of the paper is a business rule management system based method for solution of such a problems by providing of the separated component of shared business logics for all software systems of IS that are servicing the business system.
