A new concept for designing piezoelectric actuator generated by traveling wave is proposed and analyzed in the paper. The proposed motor with piezoelectric actuators are based on a rotor (activated element). Traveling wave is generated on the rib area of the cylindrical actuator applying harmonic oscillations. Cylinder has sectional electrodes that are excited by harmonic voltage. Numerical modeling based on finite element method was performed to find resonant frequencies and modal shapes of the actuator and to calculate the trajectories of the rib points movements which generate the roller rotating motion. Experimental measurements of oscillation distribution on the surface of the cylinder has been done when different electrodes subjection were excited. Results of numerical and experimental studies are discussed.
