Strategic management of universities in Lithuania: internal actors and instruments

Abstract
Effective strategic management is crucial for universities, acting in complex and turbulent world of contemporary higher education. The article provides a summary of the results of empirical survey, which has been conducted to explore pecularities of strategic management in Lithuanian universities. The paper revels state of art of strategy development, formulation, implementation, monitoring and control proceses. The research is focused on the involvement of internal and external actors into strategic management at universities. There is acssesed the importance of selected success and failure factors of strategy implementation and provided insights into future change in the area.
