Tarptautinis bendradarbiavimas aplinkos apsaugos sektoriuje
Abstract
Since independence, Lithuania has established close links for environmental co-operation with its neighbours as well as with other countries around the Baltic Sea and elsewhere in Europe. Lithuania has become a member of the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the International Atomic Energy Agency and several other international organisations. The country wants to integrate fully into Europe's economic, political and security structures. Lithuania applied for EU membership on 8 December. 1995. Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs started negotiations for mentioned above membership on 15 February. 2000. This presentation shows main direction and purposes in the international environmental co-operation. Short introduction about financing of environmental sector during years 1992-1999 and needs in the future is presented too.
