Isolated word recognition system can be built cheaper and faster if implemented in FPGA and thus it is the most desirable technology to be included as a mean of communication with mobile devices. The paper deals with Lithuanian isolated word recognition system and investigates its efficiency while initially implementing it in FPGA development board. Implementation of the recognition system is presented by brief introduction to FPGA development board, discussion of used isolated word recognition algorithm, presentation of organizational structure of intellectual property cores that implement the system. Experimental results on accuracy of speaker dependent and independent recognitions as well as implementation efficiency taking into account intermediate processing steps are given. Initial implementation of Lithuanian isolated word recognition system takes less than 40 % of FPGA resources.
