Application of biometric technologies in civil aviation, road, railway and sea transport
Abstract
Fast developing state-of-the art technologies and solutions will allow carrying more passengers and cargo by various types of transport and providing better quality of services every year. Therefore it is very important to guaranty safety of passengers, cargo, facilities, company’s property and provided services. This can be achieved by intensive application of biometric technologies, therefore every year significant investments are being made in research and development of biometric systems. Currently biometric systems are being implemented at airports for making passengers’ check-in and baggage drop, boarding procedures easier and quicker; seaports and airports – for identification of employees, transport vehicles’ drivers, visitors and protection of public areas; for safeguarding trucks and locomotives against steal and grab.
