Abstract

Project of "Lithuanian National Solar Programme 2000-2005" as a pari of "World Solar Programme 1996-2005" comprises research and technological development, demonstration activities, ducation and training, information and communication, legislation, including solar energy, wind power, hydropower, biomass, geothermel energy. In accordance with the concept of the new project Sun Lithuania four regional centres linked with renewable energy technologic would be built in Lithuania: in Vilnius, in Kaunas, in Klaipeda, in Neringa. Objectives of Sun settlements in Vilnius is : create the concept for a sustainable settlement: form the project and build the settlement using alternative ecological technologies especially solar energy: ohsen'e and analyse the project during the exploitation period: maximally introduce to the society, scientists, professionals, state institutions all the project idea-realisation-living processes and invite the here mentioned groups to participate in all the development processes: show that the existence of urban structures as sustainable settlements in Lithuania is socially and economically motivated Result - unique , onceplion realisation in small (4-5 houses) and larger (30-100 houses) settlements: integrated with the surrounding ecosystem buildings, with solar energy utilisation for 60% of energy needs: 40% - 80% reduced exploitation costs and emissions to the atmosphere: exploitation research, conclusions for the future, demonstration in the side, society education.
