Accuracy enhancement of angular positioning drive
Abstract
The main task of this research was an accuracy enhancement of a positioning drive, installed in a test rig for testing and calibration of the geodetic instruments at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Institute of Geodesy. Using a microstepping controller with 16 microsteps the 0.1″ positioning accuracy was achieved, but the measurement resolution can be increased up to 0.01″ using the attached microscopes with webcams and PC software. Analysis of rotation was made, and ways for accuracy enhancement were described. The main goal of modernization was an implementation of searching optimization algorithm into the controller design, so the positioning and measurement accuracy matched.
