Analysis of professional drivers' training system in Lithuania

Abstract

The paper analyzes the system of training of professional drivers in Lithuania. Moreover, it analyzes situation of drivers of vehicles of international freight carriage in Lithuanian and global labor market. Main provisions of the Directive 2003/59/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the initial qualification and periodic training of drivers of certain road vehicles for the carriage of goods or passengers are analyzed. The paper also overviews application of the provisions of the afore-mentioned directive in Lithuanian legal basis. The extent of periodic training of drivers is determined, main problems arising during the training of professional drivers in Lithuania are identified.
