Drivers age and traffic accidents in Lithuania

Abstract

The paper presents an investigation of driver’s age and traffic accidents in Lithuania. The results of many countries show that drivers under 19 years make 2-3 times greater risk to be participants of accidents than the middle-aged drivers, estimated is that 25-26 year old drivers is not a special threat. The drivers are frequently speeding, do not choose a safe driving speed, break maneuvering and traffic rules, are not able to properly evaluate situation and road conditions, they take improper, delayed or untimely actions, show disrespect towards other road users. The main ways to understand the basic problems is to analyze accidents and to analyze the things that contribute to driving improvement.
