Expediency to use high-strength steel bars as longitudinal reinforcement for concrete members subjected to compression by axial forces and by the forces with small additional eccentricity is under consideration. The effect of concrete grade and reinforcement ratio of longitudinal bars on the behavior of reinforced concrete memebers in compression failure and on their structural safet is analysed.
