Abstract
Under the conditions of increasing traffic volume the Lithuanian roads, it is important to create conditions for safe, fast and comfortable transportation of passengers and cargos. These conditions can be ensured by relevant properties of motor roads, their pavements and pavement construction: pavement roughness, strength of the road pavement construction, state of road pavements, etc. The roads and the roadside zones must be aesthetically attractive and interesting for travelling and they must be supplied by a relevant number of different facilities: staging-posts with hotels, restaurants and fuel stations and other service objects, road signs and information posters, safety fences, etc. In the present article, the motor roads are evaluated from the aesthetical, landscape formation, environmental, and suitability for establishment of service network points of view. The possibility to have a view of the roads and roadside zones by drivers and passengers is shown. Based on the results obtained by the authors of the present article and by other researchers, recommendations are given for rational distribution of service and rest objects in the roadside zones taking into account local conditions. It is pointed out that road pavement roughness and pavement construction strength depend on the disintegration level of the pavement and pavement construction. Recommendations are given how to reduce the road pavement disintegration level ensuring relevant comfort and safety of driving.
