The application of covariance method while analysing the digital images of land surface
Abstract
Accuracy issues of identification possibilities and analysis of digital images of land surface is analyzed using a covariance method. Digital images, that are received using remote access methods, are treated in the framework of a computer program Matlab 7 in the software package operator environment. The opportunity to automatically compare the two digital images of fragments as well as determination of the interdependence of comparable images is analyzed. The interdependence of two images is verified according to calculated correlation coefficient values. In a more absolute value of correlation coefficient between the compared digital images the dependency is higher, and vice versa. Such method could be applied to long-term monitoring in order to monitor the temporal evolution of selected images.
