In maritime navigation, one of the most important tools for each navigator at present time is the Electronic Cartographic Display and Information System (ECDIS), which must comply with the requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and ensure the safety of vessels’ navigation. For ECDIS is obligatory, due to aforementioned requirements, to obtain verified correction of information in entirety and as soon as possible. The article compares the currently used methods of collecting cartographic information with the new developed system, using Remote Piloted Aircrafts System (RPAS), proving the advantages of the new system. In addition, the article contains description of this system in terms of subsystems dividing functionality. The presented information can be used both in the field of maritime navigation, and for RPV developers when creating specialized vehicles for applying over sea surface.
