The usability of precast spun concrete shafts of annular cross-sections for road bridges and footbridges is discussed. The statistical parameters of destroying loads effects and resisting bending moments and compressive forces are analysed. First and second order load effects of bridge piers are considered. The strength features of resisting bending moments and compressive forces used in ultimate limit state and probability- based designs are presented. A simplified but fairly exact analysis of spun concrete piers under persistent situations by lirnit state and probabilistic approaches is provided. The numerical example results of this analysis on shafts of bracing and braced piers are given.
