The railway specialists see level crossings as complicated elements as well. But traffic safety is not the only reason. Reconstruction, maintenance and repair is complicated as well. During the reconstruction of the level crossings the volume of works is not optimal. Only the elements of the upper railway construction are changed without solving the problems that are much more difficult, such as reconstructing angle of road and railway intersection or looking for possibilities to close the level crossing. Objective reasons are important as well. The funds are insufficient to solve such problems and it is difficult to determine economic efficiency. There are towns in Lithuania with the level crossings in the very busy streets and citizens lose their time and experience discomfort. These factors are very difficult to access and cause a lot of problems. Railway specialists solve these problems changing the time tables of the trains and making them convenient for the people. Usually it is not easy. In the article foreign experience is analyzed for solving such problems.
