Abstract
Herein, the accuracy of the data on altitude of a locality scanned by a laser is analyzed. The following sources of the data are used: the data on laser scanning of the surface of earth applying LIDAR method, the data on measurement of characteristic points of the locality (such as a street’s edge or a pavement), control points measured applying GPS method, and orthophotographic maps. The accuracy of LIDAR data and the accuracy of reflections of impulses dependently on the reflecting surface were examined and then LIDAR data on different parameters were compared to the data on the measurements. For the experimental research, the data on several different parts of the territory of Lithuania in the volume of a sheet of 1:10000 scale orthophotographic map were applied. LIDAR data were obtained in the year 2005, 2007 and 2009; the topographic plan and the control points were obtained as well.
