Then Lithuania regained its independence in 1990. The form of higher education studies started to change, and it was replaced by the university model. The form of 5-year consecutive and 6-year in-service studies (when the graduate's qualification was an engineer) was replaced by the university model: 4-year consecutive and 5-year in-service bachelor studies as well as 2-year master studies.
