Construction of the missing link of the IXB transport corridor - Vilnius southern bypass

Abstract

In the present paper, the problems of improvement of the transportation conditions in Vilnius internal transportation system and in IXB transport corridor have been considered. The construction of Southern Vilnius bypass will directly influence the socio-economic vitality of the city, ensures an improved standard of living and allows the ecological problems to be solved. The implementation of the Vilnius Southern Bypass project would allow for the redirecting of transit transport flows so they will not go through the City centre. As a result, environmental pollution, traffic jams and number of road accidents will be reduced. The cost-benefit analysis of the Southern Bypass was made.
