The paper deals with theoretical and experimental research as well as a feasibility study of local (found in Lithuania) aggregates application for asphalt pavements in state roads and city streets. It is based on the investigation of crushed material of the particle size required and produced in Lithuania. The authors have identified quality conformation to Standard requirements. Having evaluated the strength, frost resistance, the percentage of flat and oblong particles of dolomite and gravel chips and their adhesion to bitumen and bituminous emulsion, neither dolomite nor gravel could be given preference when producing asphalt concrete mixtures. Marshal test has been performed on asphalt concrete containing granite and dolomite and used for constructing the base course and the wearing course. As a result of investigation, physical and mechanical parameters of asphalt concrete containing granite and asphalt concrete containing dolomite have not manifested striking differences.
