The extreme events which arc likely to occur for poles of power transmission lines during severe wind and ice storms are considered. The structural and durability performance of prestrcsscd spun (centrifugally cast) concrete poles of annual cross-sections are analysed. The extreme wind storm, ice deposit and broken conductor actions and relevant loads of poles arc considered. The time-dependent performance criterion of poles as their random safety margin sequence is presented. The survival probability and probabilistic durability of poles as autosystems representing their multicriteria failure mode arc analysed. The target reliability index of poles is discussed.
