Paper gives an example how to present long-term sea level data on the Internet. The discussion on vector files formats against raster file formats is presented. By authors one of the most suitable formats could be Computer Graphic Metafile (CGM). CGM is an ISO standard since 1987. It was designed for graphical exchange and printing format for CAD systems. CGM files typically contain elements like polygons, lines, and text with properties attributed to elements such as colour and size. Clear text encoding of the CGM allows metafiles to be created and maintained in a form which is simple to type, easy to edit and convenient to read. The paper could be useful for specialists who are working on presentation of long-term observations, which could be presented as 2D graphics on the Internet.
