Abstract

The article represents basic principles ofbuilding theoretical compact city model and targets attained by city compactness. Question of housing for a compact city and integrated transport systems is explained by examples of recent development projects in Europe cities. The ways to achieve higher compactness of the cities are discussed and example of Glasgow conurbation case study in UK is mentioned.
