Abstract

Biological nitrogen removal from the wastewater is based on the nitrification and denitrificalion processes at the biological treatment plant with the activated sludge. Usually nitrogen Is removed following this technology scheme; the aeration zone and the anoxic zone are in one tank. The nitrification and denitrification are carried out during the aeration switching on and off. The aim of the work was to evaluate the impact of aeration regime on nitrogen removal from wastewater.
