Abstract
The article analyses the effects of heavy metals on the fish living in different waters. From the point of view of the pollution caused by heavy metals, the condition of ecosystems in Lithuania is yet less affected by heavy metals compared to a word scale. As heavy metals are considered to be one of the most harmful water pollutants, there is a great need for constant ecological monitoring and reduction of their amounts released into the environment. According to the data of a perennial research, the LCA (largest concentration allowed) in the fish is exceeding only slightly. This testifies a good condition of ecosystems in Lithuania.
