In this paper, the authors deal with factors that foster the implementation of innovations into the Lithuanian economy. The size of enterprises and economic sectors have been taken into account. On the one hand, the authors strive to estimate the role of engineering education in the process of innovative processes in the economy: to check whether bottlenecks in terms of the quality or quantity of engineering graduates do not restrict application of already existing innovations or the creation of new ones. On the other hand, the role of the government as an innovation stimulator is also considered. The significance of these two factors is juxtaposed in the paper. The investigation also presents the results of a questionnaire survey of business enterprises.
