Multimedia presentation and description of engineering graphics techniques
Abstract
Certainly, change of number of hours give for the engineering graphics correct the form of conducting classes. However, the interconnection of modern forms of information presentation changes both the form and the essence. The engineering graphics comprise the knowledge of representation of geometry via the presenting of geometry of 3D objects in a graphic form. Lectures and laboratorial works on that subject require presenting a part of knowledge in a form of drawings, which students should copy down, and the other part in the form of description. The author has presented a sample layout of lectures on engineering graphics as taught at the faculty of Environment Engineering in amount of 3 hours weekly for a period of 16 weeks. Eloquent contact between a lecturer and a student constitutes an essential element of teaching. However, the drawing part that is traditionally done on a blackboard has been substituted by a demonstration in a multimedia form and the description of techniques. Graphic illustration and description are done successively, step by step according to comments made by the lecturer and the author. As a result a student takes an advantage of high quality graphic illustration and information, which are on paper, on slides and in Internet. The usage of multimedia presentation and Internet while preparing a lecture can enable broadening the theoretical contents with examples of realized constructional objects.
