Ductile iron's casting defects, caused by production technology imperfections, change stress strain state, resistance to static and cyclic loading and, being near the surface, may become the sources of fatigue cracks nucleation. The study examines the effect of iron casting defects on stress intensity factor K and crack propagation. Performed research includes special semi-natural specimens' experimental testing data, analyse defects shape influence on cyclik fracturing process and the limitations on the analytical calculation methods. The study is extended by SEM fracture analysis, which allowed specifying of individual defects influence on cyclic fracturing process.
