Abstract
The renewal and a rapid development of the international contacts of Lithuania after the restoration of its independence in 1990 have increased the necessity of intensification of foreign language learning in the country. The use of the English grammar patterns and algorithms as an effective and economical means of teaching and learning English is proposed in the paper. Taking account of the present conditions of learning English in Lithuania, preparation of the English grammar pattern handbooks for specific purposes, specially designed for the Lithuanian learners with due regard to the interference of the native language in learning English, is recommended.
