The aim of this investigation was to improve the burning technology of porous ceramics in tunnel kilns. The final goal of treatments was to prepare a perspective engineering and technological means for optimization of the burning parameters of porous ceramics at SC “Roku keramika”. The fuel used in tunnel kilns is wooden sawdust. The porosity of ceramic blocks and the heat transfer coefficient (at 0.92 to 2.05 m2K/W) were ensured by pressing about 13% sawdust into the formation mass. Analysis of tunnel kilns regime and laboratory experimental data showed that the source of CO emission is the emission from sawdust in the heating zone. These CO emissions are emitted into the production and drying premises from the heating zone. Recommendations were prepared for improving the parameters of be aerodynamic regime for tunnel kilns. It is recommended to use another additive instead of sawdust. Thermographic investigations showed that the burning of those additives proceeds more slowly and this process takes place in the burning zone where temperatures are higher.
