Abstract
A two-dimensional-in-space mathematical model of an analytical system based on an amperometric enzyme electrode with selective and perforated membranes has been proposed and analyzed. The model involves the geometry of perforated holes partially or fully filled with an enzyme. The mathematical model is based on the reaction-diffusion equations containing a nonlinear term related to the enzymatic reaction subject toMichaelis-Menten kinetics. Using numerical simulation, the influence of the geometry of the membranes and of the enzyme region on the response of the enzyme electrode was investigated. The numerical simulation was carried out using the finite difference technique.
