Self-explaining and forgiving roads

Abstract

The themes of this manuscript are the concepts of Self-Explained Roads and Forgiving Roads. First, a discussion about Road Safety is going to take place, since it is from there that all traffic safety measures came from and it will serve as a first topic to the remaining subjects. The beginning of the preoccupation with security and the changes along the time created the need of Sustainable Safety in the roads and streets. That same concept gave origin to the main theme of this article (Self-Explaining and Forgiving Roads). Next, there is going to be a comparison and acknowledgement about their definitions. From there on, an analysis of a particular view of each approach. That analysis consists in measures, principles, and strategies and most importantly, what each approach defends. To conclude, in the end, there is going to be a discussion about the main advantages and disadvantages of each concept.
