A simplified determination method of vertical contact forces is created, which allows determining the forces occurring in the contact between wheel and rail, without the mathematical modelling. The contact between wheel and rail is considered as the interaction of two flat bodies. We obtain the summary contact force, by knowing the contact impact force and static wheel load. A possibility, to quickly determine the force occurring in the contact and to predict its impact on the rail, wheel it is bearings and etc. appears. Maximum force values obtained by using this method have been compared with the values obtained using VACD subsystem Atlas – LG.en_US
