Modern management processes rely heavily on sensory systems which register external parameters and allow to determine necessary operations. In more complex systems they are usually linked into integrated networks and applied in different industrial settings. One of such applications is the fixation of railway rolling stock in a specific road segment. Lithuanian Railways use the system based on relay automation principles, which, however, cannot fully ensure the traffic safety. This problem could be solved by installing a combined system based on the principle of ‘double’ control which allows to trace train location in a specific railway section with the help of both rail track links and sensors, positioned at needed intervals and connected to wireless networks. This article discusses principles of railway system management and describes a simulation stand developed to conduct analysis of such systems in a selected railway segment.en_US
