Index of the Fisheries Sector Cluster Competitiveness

Abstract

The aim of the research is to create the Index of Fisheries Sector Cluster Competitiveness – tool aimed for assessing the competitiveness and development of the Fisheries Sectors cluster from time to time. Based on the studied scientific literature the research provides an improved definition of the sector’s competitiveness and defines the factors influencing the competitiveness of the Fisheries Sector. As a result of the analysis the author discovered that there are several internal and external social, economic, political, natural and cultural environmental factors, which influence the competitiveness of the fisheries sector cluster, which must be taken into account creating the Index of Fisheries Sector Cluster Competitiveness. The development Index of Fisheries Sector Cluster Competitiveness may assist the institutions involved in the fisheries' policy formation to work more successfully and improve the common policy in the fisheries sector.
