Structural behaviour of strengthened RC beams under cyclic loading after intitial crack
Abstract
This article analyses behaviour of four RC beams which were loaded with cyclic loading. Beams varied by different cross section and reinforcement. Compressed part of the section was improved by adding additional layer of high performance concrete. And tensioned part of the section was improved by adding of carbon fiber reinforced polymer layer. This allowed decreasing of deflection of the beams subjected for the cyclic loading. Beams were modelled with finite element program TNO DIANA. Nonlinear finite element analysis was performed in order to predict behaviour of the beams. The analysed beams were loaded till a certain load level and then 1000 unloading and loading stages were applied. The strengthened beam with carbon fiber and high-performance concrete gives good results in analysis with cyclic loading, increases resistance capacity by more than 0.5% comparing to normal and normal beam with high performance concrete.
