Barriers prohibiting to export: methods to apply in practice
Abstract
This article concentrates on export barriers as one of important companies’ internationalization process. This
article aims to show the process of adaption of some of export barriers international theoretical findings to Latvia’s situation
in the frame of the Latvian export to Africa. As African economies grow, this trade direction becomes very popular
amongst entrepreneurs all over the world and may serve as good new market to Latvia exporters. The methodology
of barrier’s adaption had been divided into several stages with application of “locus of barrier’s overcoming difficulty”
in the end. The locus separates more important and difficult barriers from less ones for Latvian entrepreneurs. Four
export barrier groups were distilled: barriers related to difficulties with bank transfers from overseas markets, barriers
referred to production environment in Latvia, barriers related to lack of knowledge about how to work on African market
and barriers referred to export logistics procedures and arranging shipment. In the result, specific scientific barrier’s
overcoming methods were received and their findings considered as fruit of the study.
