Modern designs for CMOS low-noise transimpedance amplifiers
Abstract
Several different designs for low-noise transimpedance amplifiers (TIA) are presented and discussed. Comparison of main performance characteristics of the approaches is provided based on the available literature in order to determine the one best suited for the target application. Discussion on typical performance numbers achievable using the discussed approaches is supported by analysis of the results reported in previous works. Conclusions are drawn and suggestions are made regarding the suitability of reference topologies for implementation of low-noise CMOS TIA.
