Abstract
The potential technical breakthroughs in the field of process control and automation are a subject of significant interest and research. These advancements have the potential to transform several industries by enhancing safety, productivity, and sustainability in manufacturing processes. One potential advancement is the integration of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to process control systems. AI and ML are anticipated as key catalysts in improving decision-making abilities and optimizing processes. Besides, they can analyze large amounts of data in real-time industrial processes and can perform the necessary predictions. Further, the integration of IoT modernizes and creates a seamless network of interconnected devices with real-time communication and monitoring facilities. It opens a path for remote control, enhancing safety measures, and reducing operational costs. Moreover, cybersecurity becomes progressively vital as systems become more interconnected. Robust measures to safeguard against potential cyber threats will be imperative to ensure the integrity/reliability of automated processes. With this motivation, this paper discusses various futuristic and revolutionary aspects of process control and automation. These technical advances not only increase efficiency/precision but also herald a new era of intelligent systems that can handle dynamic industrial backdrops.
