Assessment and Predictive Modelling of Transport and Operating Condition of Aerodrome Pavement: A Case Study of Zaporizhzhia International Airport Runway

The article presents the results of assessment and predictive modelling of the transport and operating condition of aerodrome pavement surface on the example of Zaporizhzhia International Airport runway. Domestic and foreign methods for assessing the transport and operating condition of aerodrome pavement have been analyzed. When assessing the transport and operating condition of aerodrome pavement, the method of signal evaluation is most widely used in Ukraine, while standard methods for determining the condition index of aerodrome pavement, ACN-PCN methods, and determining the complex indicator are used abroad. The authors analyze Ukrainian and foreign literature in the field of assessment of transport and operating condition of aerodrome pavement. In the result of the analysis of literature sources, it was established that defects and damages of aerodrome pavement can be of three types: infringement of construction works technology; infringement of operating requirements; miscalculations and errors in construction made at the phase of preliminary research and designing. The reliability and suitability for further operation of the rigid aerodrome pavement of the runway with artificial turf of Zaporizhzhia International Airport have been assessed. A defective plan of the runway with artificial turf of Zaporizhzhia International Airport has been developed and the types of defects of paving slabs have been established. After calculating the value of the signal evaluation indicator, it was found that the pavement of the artificial runway of Zaporizhzhia International Airport is in the condition of unacceptable damage. The reliability of the aerodrome pavement is less than the allowable value of reliability. Measures have been developed to improve the transport and operating condition of the aerodrome pavement surface of the artificial runway of Zaporizhzhia International Airport.
