Threat Assessment of the Railway Infrastructure Soft Targets

Abstract
Railway transport is one of the significant areas for the functioning of human society. The task of transport is well-thought movement of goods and persons from one place to another. The essence of railway transport is the service of transporting people and goods by rail using railway infrastructure, railway vehicle and under the supervision of rail traffic management systems. However, elements of the railway infrastructure are constantly threatened by a wide range of different threats, which may cause a disruption of their functionality or a threat to the safety of transported persons. At present, attention is also significantly focused on the protection of so-called soft targets. This focus is also reflected in the field of railway transport and railway infrastructure. To ensure the protection of the soft targets of railway infrastructure, threats need to be assessed comprehensively so that an effective response to these threats can be ensured. The aim of this article is to present the procedure of assessing the threats of soft targets of railway infrastructure according to the level of their danger resulting from the level of expected impact. Various threats enter into this assessment in order to maintain the complexity of this assessment.
