Digitalization of the Logistics Sector: The Case of Lithuania

The logistics industry is an integral part of any country’s economy and plays a major role in the movement of goods and services. In recent years, the transport and logistics sector has faced new challenges and technologies designed to facilitate and accelerate the movement of goods and products through supply chains. The “Industry 4.0” solutions in transport and logistics are aimed at simplifying logistics processes and managing information in real-time, providing timely data availability and accessibility to process managers throughout the supply chain. Implementing innovative technologies has become the main activity trend of current companies when many companies seek to make their operations more efficient and maintain competitiveness. Data from the Lithuanian Statistics Department show that in 2020 only 41.6% were interested in innovative solutions and their implementation in all companies in this sector. Taking into account this, the article analyzes the trends in the implementation of “Industry 4.0” technologies in the Lithuanian logistics sector.
