Comparison of the Development of Private Car and Railway Transport Systems in Europe
Abstract
With the motive of protecting the environment, many countries have put forward a vision to replace private car transport with railway transport as much as possible. The author of the article proposes a method to determine in which countries it would be most appropriate. The article presents an analysis of the number of private cars and the length of railway lines in countries, assessing the relationship of these indicators with the country’s area, population and gross domestic product.
