Composing sustainable competitiveness index: practice and discussions
Abstract
The composite competitiveness indexes are useful communication tool for a comparison of the
economies, awareness raising and in policy analysis. The benchmarking of economic outcomes as well as
the potential serves as a basis for policy makers in setting policy agendas and investment priorities. Recent
international discussions on further research avenue for composite index of competitiveness is driven
by the approach that aims at ensuring a closer alignment between the measurement of competitiveness
and sustainable development. Therefore, the article aims to contribute to (i) a better understanding of the
complexity of the sustainable competitiveness; and (ii) the development of a theoretical framework for
sustainable competitiveness index.
