Due to the ambitious targets of EU energy policies, changing environmental priorities and industrial
progress, the development of new technologies and their implementation in the industry has became
one of the most significant factors of various Lithuanian strategic documents, determining the speed
and results of the economic-social development. After introduction of the taxes on natural resources and
pollution of environment, and following the requirements of EU regulations not to exceed the allowable
pollution standards, the requirements for the efficiency of Lithuanian industrial production as well as for
economical use of energy resources and eco-efficiency have significantly increased. Due to the conditions
of modern business, the development of Lithuanian industry is an integral part of sustainable social, economic
development and implementation of energy-saving technologies in manufacturing enterprises. This
paper presents the analysis of energy-saving policy objectives and instruments in EU and Lithuania highlighting
the priority of implementation tools in the industry, also evaluation of the impact of EU energy
policies on technological performance of Lithuanian manufacturing enterprises.
